To strengthen the international community’s response to the world’s most pressing water challenges, the Transformative Futures for Water Security Initiative (TFWS) convened over a thousand representatives from youth networks, national and local governments, water user and advocacy groups, research institutes and the private sector to answer the following question:
What are high-ambition, collective actions that will create strong alignment and convergence of knowledge and research, policy, business and on-the-ground implementation to deliver future water security?
Eight ambitious missions in water research, policy, and action have emerged from the TFWS collaborative multi-stakeholder dialogue process. The diagram below highlights the first set of missions, marked in light blue, which are designed to achieve systemic outcomes. Additionally, the second set of missions, highlighted in green, serves as an enabler for progress within the first set.
During the TFWS Regional Dialogues, participants also identified eight systemic levers, represented in orange, which are crucial components of strategies for change across all missions. These levers play a vital role in catalyzing inclusive, long-term, and sustainable transformations.
TFWS stakeholders are now forming alliances to take the missions forward at the local, regional and global levels. Click on the ‘Coalitions’ tab to learn more.
